We can make this vision a reality, together.

Through your leadership, ideas, and problem-solving spirit, the ShelterCare vision can become a reality!

House of Friendship is championing ShelterCare in partnership with members of the Inner City Health Alliance and community partners.

Established in 1939, House of Friendship walks with 42,000 men, women and children in Waterloo Region who need food, housing, access to vital community resources, or addiction treatment.

For adults struggling with homelessness, House of Friendship has operated the Charles Street Men’s Shelter for 80 years, and offers permanent supportive housing for 86 men and women, supporting them as needed to avoid a return to homelessness.

The Inner City Health Alliance is a new responsive local village of health and social support agencies serving those living in vulnerable conditions, specifically those at risk of experiencing homelessness and refugees. These community partners are coming together to strategically align resources and create new ways of supporting people to improve their wellbeing through timely, coordinated, and integrated health and social services that make sense for the person at that time.
